8th Grade ELAR (English Language Arts Reading)
Seminole Junior High School
Conference times: 11:05 - 11:50 or 12:45 - 1:30
I follow Seminole Junior High School's grading policy, which is 75% daily work and 25% six weeks test/AR.
Daily work in my class consists of participation in class discussion, homework, and performance indicators (tests). For the remaining 25%, AR goes in the gradebook as two grades, one for the average of all quizzes taken, and one for percentage of their goal they earned, then the six weeks test.
Prior to taking an AR test, all students and a parent must sign the SJHS AR Guidelines. These rules have been put in place to ensure academic honesty. This contract is kept on file for the school year.
AR deadlines can be found multiple places, but most importantly know my students are very aware of when the deadlines are, for I have them posted on my Google Classroom, in my classroom, and as the deadline approaches, I have a countdown on my board.
3rd six weeks goal is due 12/16
4th six weeks goal is due 2/14
5th six weeks goal is due 4/4
6th six weeks goal is due 4/27
At anytime if you are curious about your child's AR goal, points earned, or what they are making on their quizzes, you can check their app on their iPad or log into AR Home Connect. You will need your child's AR username and password. There is a link for the Home Connect on our Junior High webpage under the tab Library.
AR factors in for 25% of the students' average, so it is vital to get AR points in order to be successful in my classroom.
These are the following codes each student should know for my class.
AR Code (if needing to CONNECT TO RENAISSANCE PLACE): SISD-64RP
Remind code: text 81010 and the message is @boylese OR if through the app, just @boylese
Google Classroom code: 94cnqg
