TEKS(Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) content areas will be covered for each course.  Grades will be taken on:

Homework/Daily Activities

  • All homework/daily activities will count for 50% of your grade.
  • The student is expected to bring all supplies (book, paper, calculator, map colors, lab spiral, pen, or pencil).
  • LATE work will NOT be accepted.  All work will be due the day after it is assigned unless otherwise stated.
  • If student is absent and has work that is due on that day, it will be due when student returns.
  • If a student doesn’t put an appropriate heading (Name & Title) on their paper, they will receive a zero.
  • ALL answers MUST be boxed/highlighted.
  • ALL work MUST be completed in pencil.

    Test/Labs/Research Paper/Projects:

  • All major assignments will count 50%.
  • If student is absent on a day a test is administered, they will be required to take the test when student returns.
  • If a research paper or project is assigned, it will count heavily towards your six weeks grade and may carry over to the next six weeks grade.  Project grades my affect your semester average and six weeks averages.
  • Projects/Research papers will require work to be completed outside of regular class time.
  • Due dates must be meet regardless of days present.
  • All tests will be cumulative.

    Pop Quizzes:

  • May be given at any time without prior notification.
  • Will have a minimum of 2 quizzes per week.
  • Will count as a daily/test grade.

    Corrections:

  • May be made on any paper that is below a 70.  It is the student’s responsibility to ask for corrections.
  • You have 24 hrs. to complete your corrections from the time the grade is posted in the online grade book to complete your corrections.
  • You MUST write each question and answer 5 times each.  If the question was a math problem you MUST show your work each time.
  • Skip lines between numbers and highlight your answer.
  • You MUST attach your test and scantron with your corrections.
  • Your questions and answers MUST be together and in numerical order and all missed questions MUST be answered.
  • You may earn 1 point per corrected answer and may correct up to a 70 if the points add up.

  • If any of the above items are not completed correctly I will NOT grade your corrections!!

Grade Averages:

Each homework grade, pop quizzes, and class participation grades will count as 50% of the grade.  All exams, labs, research papers, deadlines, and projects grades will count as 50% of the grade.  The sum of the grades will be averaged for the six weeks grade in each course.

Bonus Points/Extra Credit:

May be given if student is failing or in danger of failing only when all assigned work is turned in, completed, attended tutorials, and completed corrections.  This will allow students additional opportunities for success in science courses, while reinforcing concepts learned during the course.

Cheating/Working on Other Assignments:

If student is copying work from another student both students will receive zeros (0) on the assigned work.  If student is working on assignments from another class and their work is not complete for mine, I will take up the assignment and it will not be returned to the student.
